John Scott leads Emerytus Advisors’ Growth Readiness and Portfolio Operations Services, advising middle-market companies and their investors on the operational foundations needed to scale with confidence. With over 25 years of global executive experience across public and private markets, John brings a unique blend of capital markets insight, investor engagement expertise, and hands-on operational perspective.

His career encompasses leadership roles in the U.S. and Europe, specifically focusing on assisting companies in preparing for strategic transitions—from accelerated growth and M&A readiness to IPO preparation and capital raising. He collaborates closely with management teams, operating partners, and investors to enhance performance at critical inflection points.

Before joining Emerytus, John served as Head of Global Marketing and Cross-Border Investor Relations at Net de Gerrers, a private equity firm headquartered in Spain that has interests in real estate, infrastructure, and emerging growth companies. In that role, he was responsible for communicating the firm’s value proposition to a global audience of institutional investors and for supporting portfolio companies in navigating strategic growth challenges.

Earlier in his career, John spent nearly a decade with Morgan Stanley in London, where he advised UK merchant banks and German financial institutions allocating capital to the U.S. equity market. His experiences strengthened cross-border investor relationships and provided a lasting global perspective on capital formation and institutional client engagement.

Upon returning to the United States, John became a principal at Sound View Technology Group, a research-driven investment bank focused on the technology sector. There, he played a key role in establishing the firm’s presence as a leading co-manager of IPOs for high-growth tech companies.

John’s strength lies in bridging strategy and execution. He works with companies to align their operating models and internal capabilities with the expectations of stakeholders, helping management to develop a growth readiness strategy that unlocks value in competitive markets.

Outside the Office

John has a strong appreciation for foreign cultures, discipline, and exploration. He lived in Japan for several years, where he studied judo and continues to practice the martial art. A passionate photographer and global traveler, he often combines these interests to document off-the-beaten-path landscapes and remote communities.
